Acrylic on canvas, 60cm x 80cm x 2cm.

 

I had been busy with a lot of things, but painting, lately. So once I got back to my workshop (after a few days only, actually) I felt an overwhelming urge to paint. I felt energetic, like I had to make up for the past days.  I missed my daily painting. This painting was the result, reflecting my urge to paint that day.

 

My wife said the painting was too busy, but I truly love it. Maybe because I can relate to the relief of letting my energy flow while creating it. Maybe because I see each line and remember the energy when drawing it.  My wife and I don’t always have the same taste for art, and then exchange arguments on why or why not, almost like a competition sometimes.

Luckily for me, an art collector came to pick up a painting, and while looking at “Energetic feeling” said she liked it very much too, even after my wife repeated that she did not. The art collector however persisted and commissioned me to a painting in similar style, tuned to her favourite colours, I am working on that painting now. That settled the competition that day 😉

 

Joking aside, taste is unarguable. If you look at a painting and it brings up good feelings, then simply enjoy it. If the painting does not, then it is meant for someone else. Don’t see it as right or wrong, or good or bad art. Look at the next painting and let your gut feeling guide you.

It is only you who decides which artwork is good for you, and which is not.
