Description

Autumn Equinox is the second painting from the Autumn Equinox & Mabon series. 

 

The Autumn equinox heralds autumn (equinox is Latin for "equal night").

The sun is directly above the equator. This day is called the autumn equinox and falls on September 22 in 2021, at 20:20 UK time to be precise.

Summer is officially over in the astronomy. The fall will last until the winter solstice on December 21. This is followed by the vernal equinox, which is followed by the summer solstice.

 

From now on I can see nature slowly changing to those beautiful autumn colours. A clear blue sky, with a golden sun and the colour-changing nature formed the inspiration for this painting.

Oh Autumn, what a beautiful season you are.

Background to this series:

The summer of 2021 was coming to an end, the autumn equinox was approaching. On the autumn equinox the sun rises exactly in the east and sets exactly in the west.

Mabon is celebrated on the day of the autumnal equinox, this year on September 22. Mabon, it’s rituals, the autumn colours, the self-reflection and awareness that play an important role in Mabon, gave me a tremendous inspiration.  Too much inspiration for just one painting, so it become a whole series of paintings.

 

My feelings in combination with colours and patterns that go with Mabon and autumn , I have put in a series of abstract paintings, each painting with its own inspirational background, but all related to this time of year.
