This is the third painting of the "good food cooking" series, called: Mindless in a worthwhile way.

From a quote of Truman Capote, who said: Oh, I adore to cook. It makes me feel so mindless in a worthwhile way.

The background of  my inspiration for this series of paintings:

In April 2021 we visited friends that had recently moved to our neighbourhood. They prepared us a wonderful meal in Indonesian style. Many different dishes, as is custom with Indonesian food, with delicious smell and vegetables with vibrant colours.

We were seated at a table in their brand new kitchen. The cabinets of the kitchen were in stylish anthracite grey. They were still finishing off their kitchen with silver and gold accessories, which match perfectly with the dark anthracite grey.

When we got back home (just in time for the Covid evening curfew) I was very inspired by the vibrant colours of the food against the anthracite grey background, and how well these colours combined.

The next morning, before breakfast, I started working on a series of 7 paintings inspired by the delicious food and their colours in the anthracite grey kitchen. I worked with various motives in fore- and background to give each painting its own unique character.

I like to read inspirational quotes to get me in the right mindset for painting. For the naming of the paintings in this series I have used parts of quotes about cooking.

All my paintings are originals, acompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. I don't produce prints, as nothing compares to owning an original artwork. Owning a painting from me, you are the only one -exclusively- who will ever have it.
