While I was finishing the last parts of this painting, a good friend visited me. We had a cup of coffee in my studio and I told him about the painting techniques I had used. I explained how the colour composition was, the various materials I had applied and how I was refining the balance in the painting in the final steps.
Suddenly he interrupted me and said “I see Rapunzel. Looking down from her tower with her long flowing braids.”
After he explained his image to me (Rapunzel’s hair from top right, to bottom left), I could see it too.
The striking thing about this is that where I, as an abstract artist, am mostly concerned with colour balance and composition in a non-figurative style, the visitor or art collector often immediately looks for the recognisable figurative parts in my abstract composition.
I quite often experience this different perception on my artworks. I find it fascinating that my visitors see something so different than I do.
... or is it maybe that I see so different from what they do?
This colourful Abstract Statement Art already hangs in living rooms, bedrooms and offices of other art collectors and is unfortunately no longer available. In the Webshop you can see inspiring works of art that are currently available. Both on sale or available through art loan.
If an inspiring hand-painted painting that you like is no longer available, or not of the right size, or if you are looking for something specific that fits your home or office interior, you can commision me for your own unique Statement Art.
Curious? Then read of how I got my inspiration for a commissioned work of art.
Besides visiting this online art gallery you are of course always welcome at my atelier & art gallery in Eindhoven or the showroom inVenlo.
