Seasonal change is the eight painting from the Autumn Equinox & Mabon series.
As winter approaches, I observe the seasonal changes in my yard and the parks opposite of my house in Eindhoven. All the leaves have changed colour as the last flock of geese fly over in a V-formation. The plants in my garden are drying up in various colours, abundant with seeds in various shape. The wind howls one day, but is completely absent on others.
I like to take long walks in nature. Looking at a clear blue sky interspersed with dark grey skies, dried out brown plants and leaves in all colours on my path.
I enjoy it, observed it and abstracted it on this canvas.
Background to this series:
The summer of 2021 was coming to an end, the autumn equinox was approaching. On the autumn equinox the sun rises exactly in the east and sets exactly in the west.
Mabon is celebrated on the day of the autumnal equinox, this year on September 22. Mabon, it’s rituals, the autumn colours, the self-reflection and awareness that play an important role in Mabon, gave me a tremendous inspiration. Too much inspiration for just one painting, so it become a whole series of paintings.
My feelings in combination with colours and patterns that go with Mabon and autumn , I have put in a series of abstract paintings, each painting with its own inspirational background, but all related to this time of year.
