The Mabon celebration is the first painting from the Autumn Equinox & Mabon series.

Inspired by the day of the autumnal equinox, when Mabon is celebrated, in 2021 on September 22. Mabon is an autumn festival, a celebration of thanksgiving for the last harvest. It is harvest time, and with it the time to be thankful for that rich harvest of the year.

Celebrate Mabon in your own way. Take a nice autumn walk, pick berries and other fruits, pick nuts and roast them over a fire.

Acrylic on canvas, 123cm x 83cm x 4cm (incl wooden frame).

Background to this series:

The summer of 2021 was coming to an end, the autumn equinox was approaching. On the autumn equinox the sun rises exactly in the east and sets exactly in the west.

Mabon is celebrated on the day of the autumnal equinox, this year on September 22. Mabon, it’s rituals, the autumn colours, the self-reflection and awareness that play an important role in Mabon, gave me a tremendous inspiration.  Too much inspiration for just one painting, so it become a whole series of paintings.

My feelings in combination with colours and patterns that go with Mabon and autumn , I have put in a series of abstract paintings, each painting with its own inspirational background, but all related to this time of year.
